How to Prepare for Winter and Save Money on Heating Your Workplace?

You might say it is a bit early to worry about the heat in the office. However, a responsible manager thinks ahead and can save the company quite a bit of money by preparing early for the heating season. How to do it?

Install New Valves

An installation of so-called thermostatic valves on radiators can save up to 10% on heating costs. Thanks to them, you can adjust the heating intensity in each room and avoid unnecessary overheating in the office. Do you know how to do it?

On the thermostatic head (the wheel you use to adjust the heating level of the radiator) you will, in most cases, find values from 1 to 5. For offices, it is ideal to set the radiator to 3 - this will heat the room to around 20 degrees Celsius.

Take Care of Your Radiators

A step you can take right now is to check your radiators and make easy adjustments for which you do not need the help of a plumber. First of all, make sure the seals on the radiators are still working, not coming apart and are doing their job. The same goes for window seals, which can leak precious heat out onto the street on cold days.

In the same way, you can check if the radiators are not accidentally covered by objects. It is not so much about forgotten rags or mugs, but more about pieces of furniture you have placed right in front of the radiator during the summer. When it comes to the heating season, such items will prevent warm air from flowing into the office and you will be spending unnecessary resources on heating to a higher temperature.

Other Tips

As well as focusing on the heating itself, it is worth mentioning other tips that will keep your workplace warmer for longer and save you money on heating bills. The first of these is consistently closing the doors in your office. Not just the front door or the door to the balcony, but also the doors separating different rooms. These can be heated to different temperatures and the transfer of heat between them again only results in unnecessary heat loss.

The same applies to ventilation. However, this does not mean that you should not open windows in your workplace in winter. On the contrary, fresh air is desirable, but instead of slowly changing it through a small window, it is much better and more effective to open the larger windows for a few minutes and let the air change swiftly.
